A Leap of Faith

Bloggers Note: this entry was first posted on my first blog www.thoughtsofjuan.blogspot.com which was eventually deleted by the Google team. I am re posting this entry again because were working on a new project to eventually informed and updated everybody of the groups activity and somehow inspire in someway or another the ones reading this entry.

A 30 minutes ride and walked away from the poblacion. Yesterday's rain forced us to leave the car and walked  in a bog because no vehicle could pass out of this mire. I wonder how teachers and the kids survive this everyday situation and worst the rainy season would have been a more struggle situation for them. This long road requires a good knee to face this harsh reality.
As I make a few steps out of this bog and as I caught a few glimpse to also my struggling friends. The happy kid inside me was excited by the fact that our first project was a few steps away. The story of our group whose behind this activity was too long to be unfolded. Yes, this was our first activity and as they say every's one first will always be memorable :) . And it was a very young group originally composed of seven young men and thus started on the early quarter of this year. It was formed out of drinking spree on every Beerness Night (Friday Night). You got it right, we do love  Beer and we originally intended to call ourselves the Beerness Boys but that is another story. I was indeed very lucky to be a part of this group and so lucky to find friends who in every Beerness Nights  we decipher that we have those same little idealism sprung little by little and thus COOL DOUGS was born, a cool young men. I salute these guys, I have learned things that no law books nor my long years of studying could ever provide. We care for our community and in our own little way we can contribute something for the development of the place whom have nurtured us, it was our own little way of paying forward.

As we go on and made our walk, we reached the place. It was a surreal feeling and my heart was genuinely touched by their smiles for no money nor any material things could brought a priceless happiness they brought to us. The kids patiently waited for us in their near perfect line and as they see us coming their little subtle hands made a few motion of joy and excitement. WE CAN NEVER FORGET THE SCENE.

December 5, 2013 at Baranggay Amontay, Macalelon, Quezon, our very first activity was held. A feeding program and tsinelas was given to about 108 students of the Brgy. Amontay Elementary School. We have prepared games and simple program that day. It was our group's simple way of reaching out to our community but we have realize that is them who had helped us. It made us realize further that we could do something for our country no matter how big or small it may seems. It was our first step and we intend to make few more steps.

We can never forget the scene. We can never forget the genuine happiness on every kids face and how the slippers are so precious to them, how these kids cuddles, embrace and how they use these slippers for clapping out of excitement. Some of them even murmur that they were going to use these slippers on they forthcoming Christmas party. And personally i will never forget how these kids genuinely appreciate this so simple slippers we have for them, it may not be a branded slippers but for these kids these are precious.

As our program is about to end I have certain realizations, I was fortunate to have this trustworthy friends and fortunate to be part of Cool Dougs. And I was so fortunate to have this experience first hand. These kids infirmed unto me values that I am long been holding on and mostly these kids affirmed my faith.

We will definitely come back....
