Ad Aperturam

A perfect “asalto”, today is a perfect day before the big day tomorrow. The sun was resplendently shinning with its brilliant luster sooths my senses as I was on my way to the venue. This is a different sight from the usual place I go to. The sluggishness of the phone coverage and the rough roads did not prevent me to admire the simplicity of the place. My heart was pounding as I was rehearsing the flow of my script on my mind. Finally I reached the place. I carefully examine the situation, made some estimation and roughly 50 people are there. I decided to sit at the side before waiting for my turn. Then I heard my friend calling out my name, it was the signal, the floor was all mine. I made some introduction and few remarks “it was my first time and the first time was usually awesome”. Yes, it was my first time to be a resource person in the barrio of my domicile.

My lecture lasted about an hour and a half. The cadence of the lecture had prevented me to feel the scourging heat of the sun. The energy that I have exhausted during the talking was relieved by the smiles and the cooperation of the people on the venue. Their faces leave a long lasting image on my mind. The lecture was for the Family Development Session (FDS) of the Department of Social Welfare Development or DSWD, 4 P’s program or the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program which aims to strengthen the Pilipino family especially the poor. I was invited to be a Resource Person for today’s topic by a very good friend of mine, Ms. Tina Lim, and since I was in a hibernate mode (it feels like), I said YES to the invitation.

As I headed home I have brought with me learning’s and new experience that neither Newspapers nor News channel could ever provide. With today’s activity on the eve of my special day tomorrow I had carried me a pieces of new information which I will put on my big bag of learning’s. My career may be in a topsy-turvy situation right now. I may be idle; I may not put into blueprint the plans I have in my mind; I may not yet support the scholars I have in mind and I did not reach my target goals at this point in time. But today’s experience has solidified my perception that whatever situation you are into you can help in whatever form and in whatever kind. This was also affirmed by my brods/Cool Dougs activity of our feeding program and giving away slippers of the elementary students of Bgy. Amontay and Olongtao Ilaya. Spending my time with them today was priceless, somehow I have imparted to them little knowledge I have acquired during my long years in College. But like what I have said I have learned more out of this activity. A perfect “asalto” J

One thing, Yesterday, I accidentally read the card my younger brother gave to me a few years ago, it states Be patient because God prepares something big for you. Patience means knowing it will happen … and giving time it will happen”.
